The Catholic Bishop of Torit urged all the diocesan social development workers to include a spiritual dimension in their daily activities in order to strengthen the pastoral service to the people.
Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek made the call yesterday during the opening ceremony of a three-day Annual General meeting for the diocesan staff, Radio Emmanuel reported.He said every diocesan department of social development should have a spiritual element to transform the lives of the beneficiaries.
The bishop added that morning prayers should precede daily duties in the Catholic institutions.
Bishop Akio said the Annual General meeting was a moment for the participants of the Diocese of Torit to share experiences.
He stressed that changes come from actors and not necessarily from leaders.
Bishop Akio urged the people to draw their strength from God to enable them to overcome challenges and difficulties at their various work places.
The Annual General Meeting is an important event held every year in the diocese of Torit to address reports on achievements, challenges and plans for the following year.
The event draws together priests, social development programmes officials, non-government organizations and government institutions working with the Catholic diocese of Torit.
