Southern Sudan political parties yesterday agreed upon an election code of conduct that will ensure free, fair and inclusive elections without violence.
Seventeen parties from the South met since Monday in Juba facilitated by the African Union high level panel headed by Burundi president Pierre Buyoya.
Mahmud Abdul, an AU advisor, read out the code of conduct to the press.
The document says that the parties will ensure the elections will be free and fair avoiding any form of intimidation and violence.
The signatory parties also agreed to solve disputes arising from the elections outcome in a legal and peaceful manner in accordance with the democratic principles.
The parties also agreed to fully implement the CPA provisions fully in accordance with time frame, especially the referendum.
The parties asked for the Darfur crisis to be resolved in an inclusive and democratic manner seeking to achieve peace and justice and reconciliation in line with the recommendations of the report of the African Union high level panel on Darfur.
