The National Legislative Assembly decided to sue The Citizen if the chief editor does not apologize in writing over comments he made in the newspaper about an incident between security personnel and a journalist.
Speaker James Wani Igga told the press today that the Housedresolved to take The Citizen newspaper to court.He added that the House was tired of The Citizen and his editor in chief, Nhial Bol.
Mr Igga said the House passed three resolutions: one Ð to terminate the debate over the reports on the incident; two Ð to ask Mr Bol to apologize in writing for the attack against the House; three Ð to take him to court if refuses to apologize.
The Speaker said Mading Ngor, a journalist from Bakhita Radio who was involved in the incident, was banned from covering Parliament procedures.
He added the media should work hand in hand with the government to built peace.
