Delegations from the governments of Juba and Khartoum are in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to resume discussions on oil issues.

Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press yesterday evening that the delegations were in Addis Ababa to continue post-independence negotiations.

He said the oil crisis would be the main topic on the table of negotiations.

Dr Barnaba added that the talks are being assisted by the African Union, IGAD countries and the international community.

Post-independence talks between Juba and Khartoum were suspended two weeks ago after the two delegations reached a stalemate over the cost of fees charged on South Sudan for using Sudanese pipelines and port to export its crude.

South Sudan decided to shut down its oil production until the parties reached a mutual agreement.
