The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has admitted South Sudan as its member number 154.
Speaking to Bakhita Radio yesterday after the admission, football referee John Sebit said CAF Ordinary General Assembly held in Libreville, Gabon, unanimously approved South Sudan Football Association’s request to be admitted to the African football family.He explained that his office received the message through the FIFA Secretary General, Rudolf Andrea.
Mr Sebit congratulated the people and fans of South Sudan for this achievement and urged the government and the football association to work hard in order to prepare players to compete at international level.
He called on the government to establish a football academy for training young players.
Mr Sebit asked the government to train coaches and referees in various fields and sports.
He invited retired players to join the football associations in order to become trainers and referees.
South Sudan has become the latest National Association to be admitted to the Confederation of African Football.
