Twenty agricultural field agents from five Counties of Jonglei and Upper Nile states started today a two-week training of trainers’ course at Yei Crop Training Centre.

FAO’s National Project Coordinator for Sustainable Food Security through Community-based Livelihood Development and Water Harvesting Project, Antazio Drabe, told Radio Easter that the training aims to equip the field extension agents with skills in order to run farmers field schools to boost production of food.

Mr Drabe said field extension workers should work together with the communities to increase food production.

He added that it every citizen of South Sudan at state, national and local level should engage in productive activities including agriculture, fisheries, livestock or small business to boost food security in the country.

Mr Drabe appealed to citizens not to wait from the government but to start agriculture projects on their own to boost farming and food production.
