The council of ministers passed yesterday a number of resolutions in a bid to bridge the food gap threatening South Sudan.

Barnaba Marial Benjamin, the Government’s spokesman, said the Cabinet decided to assist farmers with fuel and extra training in mechanized agriculture to extend their production and start cooperative and agricultural banks.

Dr Marial said the resolutions were an answer to the report from the Ministry of Agriculture on the food gap in South Sudan.

The Cabinet decided to alert the international community for the financial consequences of the food gap.

Humanitarian affairs minister Joseph Lual Acuil presented to the Cabinet the policy guidelines for his ministry.
