The deputy Mayor of Juba yesterday called for an urgent survey on water sanitation in the town.
David Lokongo Moses told Bhakita Radio that met the acting area manager for urban water corporation and public health directors from Kotar, Juba and Munuki payams to discuss water and sanitation issues.He said the meeting resolved to immediately conduct a survey to understand the status of water and sanitation and improve reliable water delivery services to peripheries of Juba town.
Mr Lokonga added that the meeting also looked into option of stopping unreliable foreigners who supply and sell water to the citizens at unreasonably high price.

Mr. Lokongo added there is plan to improve water and sanitation in Juba City and to expand the water pipeline network.
The acting area manager for Urban Water Corporation, Santurino Tongun, said Juba’s population has rapidly increased and the system is overwhelmed to deliver water to citizens.
He called on the humanitarian agencies in Juba to help the low income families to build pit latrine for them and improve sanitation in the town.
Mr Tongun added that the disabled should be helped because they cannot dig pit latrines by themselves.
The deputy mayor added that Juba City Council is training some staff.
He called for the resolution of water and sanitation issues.
