The former Catholic bishop of Torit, one of the leading church figures in South Sudan, has seen his life published in a book.

The book titled “Peace deserves a chance” narrates Bishop Paride Taban’s story from his mother’s womb until today.

Alberto Eisman, who wrote the biography, told CRN News that Bishop Paride has always impressed him for his unwavering commitment to peace at different levels.

He said the former bishop of Torit has been a very credible witness to peace as mediator and peacemaker.

Mr Eisman said he wrote the book after he spent some weeks in Kuron Peace Village at the invitation of bishop Paride, talking to him and recording his experiences.

The author said the book covers the life of bishop Paride and the last 75 years of history in South Sudan.

Mr Eisman said he wrote the book in the form of an auto-biography covering the key experiences Bishop Paride went through during almost 75 years.

The author, who worked many years as a missionary in South Sudan, said there is a lot of wisdom in what Bishop Paride tells the readers in the book.

“Peace deserves a chance” is published by the Pauline Publications Africa.
