SPLM candidate for Lakes State governor presented an ambition plan, promising to bring quick reforms to the state if elected at the April 11 elections.
Candidate Chol Tong Mayay was the main speaker at the SPML official campaign launch in Rumbek on Saturday.
Mr. Chol said he would improve health care facilities by building a second hospital in Rumbek, create jobs for the many jobless youth, increase teachers’ salaries, and provide electricity to the town. He promised to increase the salary of teachers.
Lakes State SPLM praised the party emphasizing that the CPA was one of its fruits. They all urged citizens in Lakes State support SPLM candidates at all levels.
Caretaker Governor, Telar Ring Deng, warned independent candidates against using SPLM logos and slogans during their campaign. However, he promised to provide security to all candidates in equal measure.
Mr. Telar promised to restore their power in order to preside over case in the local courts.
He also promised to introduce salaries for traditional chiefs.
However, Mr. Telar called on all chiefs and other traditional community leaders to close down private courts with immediate effect.
The launch lasted a full day and had in attendance SPLM officials in Lakes State among them former Governor Daniel Awet Akot, the SPLM State Secretary, Mathiang Keer and various Commissioners.
The rally counted with the participation of various local artists.
There are four candidates for the position of governor in Lakes State, namely, Kuc Abyie for ANC, Malual Dong for USDF-Mainstream, and Awan Maper for NCP, and Chol Tong Mayay, for the SPLM.
