Lakes State Deputy Speaker said personal property should not be used by Government officials as a tool for measuring success in public service.

Nhial Enock Cahoc told Good News Radio that achievements made by Government officials should be judged by the services delivered to the public in the areas of education, health and infrastructural development and not in terms of houses and cattle.

Mr Cahoc urged Lakes State residents to embark on development and avoid tribal conflicts, adding that 2012 should be a year of forgiveness, peace and reconciliation.

Thuor Makur Kot, a student from the Melbourne, in Australia, said he was concerned that people are increasingly becoming over dependent on the Government.

He observed that it takes individual and collective efforts to successfully build a nation.

Mr Makur noted that education is instrumental to anybody’s success and urged the Government to invest more on the sector.

He stressed the importance of girl child education, calling for respect and equal opportunities for girls and women.
