Calm has returned to Pibor, in Jonglei State, after the Lou Nuer warriors stared withdrawing towards their home areas.

Pibor County Commissioner Joshua Konyi told CRN News over a bad line that the situation today was normal in town and many of the people displaced by the attack started returning home.

On Saturday, over 6,000 Lou Nuer youths attacked Pibor sending tens of thousands of Murle people into the bush to save their lives.

Mr. Konyi said the displaced need urgent aid.

He appealed to the national ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to assist the displaced.

Mr. Konyi said the WFP, the UN food agency promised to feed the displaced but they did not start yet their work.

He added that there are not yet figures of casualties in Vertet where two days ago a number of people were killed near River Keniya.
