Police and civilians form one family and are part of the same society set up e and should cooperate to guarantee security.

Yei River County Chief Inspector of Police Colonel Atem Garang told Radio Easter that the Police forces are in the county to ensure safety of lives and property.

He dismissed allegations that officers are arrogant towards civilians saying the police forces are from Yei and are to protect the residents.

Mr Garang said Yei received a police unit from Juba called Rescue Force because the town is too big and the local police needed additional elements to cover it.

The Chief Inspector of Police said Yei’s security situation is calm due to the combined efforts of all the organized forces, including police, military, wildlife and prisons.

Mr Garang was answering complaints that police officers were too arrogant and crime rates of theft and murder were on the increase in the county.

He appealed to the communities to cooperate with the Police to combat crime by denouncing wrongdoers for Yei to become once again a peaceful society.
