Eastern Equatoria State Assembly yesterday bounced the civil servants pension deduction report back to the state High Investigation Committee after MPs detected loopholes in the findings.

John Ochan Bongomin, who chaired the investigations, presented the report on the state civil servants pension and social insurance deductions to the House last week.

Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi announced that after a two-day debate the House asked the committee to further its investigations on how the pension funds have been used.

The State High Investigation Committee was tasked to check the pay sheets from July 2005 to June 2011 and to identify with verification the exact number of pensioners in the State due for 2011.

In the report, the committee said payrolls for some months for 2005 and 2006 were not available and some government officials declined to cooperate with the investigations.

The speaker threatened to call on the Audit Chamber if officials failed to cooperate with the investigation committee.

The report found out that a total of about 14.5 million pounds was collected since 2005. However, only six million collected by the present government during the last two years are accounted for.

The state has also a deposit of 4.2 million pounds with the Nile Commercial Bank but it is not clear whether the money belongs to the pension fund.
