Eastern Equatoria Acting Police Commissioner has warned civilians to desist from attacking military personnel and engage in cattle rustling activities in the state.
Colonel Ben Banal said the people should desist from attacking each other and consider the army, including other armed forces, as sectors meant to protect civilians and their property from external aggressors but not to create internal hostility, Radio Emmanuel reported.Col. Banal warned that cattle raids and attacks on innocent civilians must stop in Greater Kapoeta.
Col. Banal issued the warning in a press briefing following the death of a SPLA soldier last week, under unclear circumstances in Torit.
The police commissioner said the soldier identified as Yobo Mabior Mural was shot dead at Ipalla where cattle keepers from Haforire settled with their animals.
Col. Banal said that Mr. Mabior was reportedly shot by one herdsman after a scuffle between him and some young men who were also grazing their animals with the ones of the army the same field.
The Police Commissioner said the army man was shot three bullets on the head.
Col. Banal added that three suspects wre arrested following the death of the soldier and are under custody to help the police with the investigation of the deadly incident.
