ELECTIONS TO TAKE PLACE ON APRIL 11, SAYS NEC

The National Elections Commission (NEC) has assured that the general elections will take place as scheduled in April 11, 43 days from today.

Some oppositions parties claimed that the framework agreement between GONU and JEM would delay the elections.

NEC Deputy-chairman, Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah, yesterday dismissed the possibility of any delay in the election schedule in an interview with Sudan Radio Service.

Prof. Abdullah said the NEC does not listen to such political considerations, the NEC is mandated to conduct the elections and it has set a timetable and it will conduct these elections as scheduled.

He added that there mandate is to conduct the elections according to the declared time frame and not to pay attention to political maneuverings.
