The Disabled Association distributed walking sticks to disable people in Wau last week at Wau Cultural Theatre. The sticks were donated by the South Sudan Red Cross society.
Arkangelo Abini Joseph, Deputy Director of the Disabled association, said that thirty wooden and iron sticks were donated to the disabled adding that it is free of charge but available to only those who have registered.
He explained that the association is responsible for those who became disabled after motor bike accidents, snake bites, guns and landmines in the state.
Mr. Abini said that more than sixty disabled people have been sent to Juba to get artificial legs, and demanded for a representative of the disabled in the National Legislative assembly, so that the problems of the disabled may be effectively addressed.
The director also asked for the rights of the disabled to be protected and stated that issue must be included in the new constitution, as it was in the previous.
