Tonj East cattle keepers are becoming the main source for insecurity in Tonj South County.
The accusation comes from Akec Tong, the Commissioner of Tonj South County. He told Radio Don Bosco that Tonj East herders kept their guns, cheating the disarmament process.He said the situation remains tense in Tonj South after East Tonj herders brought their cattle into the region together with their guns.
Mr. Tong added that the county authorities are trying hard to make sure that the herders go back to their own cattle camps.
He said he will ask Tonj East County Commissioner to call back his people in order to keep a secure environment in Tonj South.
Mr. Tong added that he will deploy the army to disarm the herders and send them back if they refuse to respect the authorities’ call to go home.
