The interior minister announced today through the speaker of the National Legislative Assembly that the South Sudan’s national identification cards are ready.
Speaker James Wani Igga told the House this morning that the ID cards will be ready by next week.He added that every citizen must have a national identification card in order to get a passport.
On the same note, MPs expressed concern over the money that was used on the temporarily passports that were issued soon after independence.
Paul Yowani, representing Yei River County, said there should be someone answerable for the money wasted on the temporality passports.
Speaker Wani advised the assembly to summon the minister of interior in order to answer their queries about the reprinting of South Sudan passports.
The first batch of passports was rejected because the document did not meet international standards.
