A retired soldier yesterday injured two police officers and shot himself dead in Bereka Boma of Lainya County while attempting to kill his family.
Lainya County press secretary Bullen Lugala told Radio Easter over a phone that a retired soldier called Charles Lomoro attempted to kill his family members using a panga.When the issue reached the police, a rescue force was sent but Mr. Lomoro wrestled with two police officers and disarmed and fired at them.
Then he shot himself and died on the spot.
Mr. Lomoro was drunk when he attempted to murder members of his family.
The two injured police officers are receiving treatment at Lainya Hospital.
Chief Mikaya Wani reported that the security situation in Bereka Boma is normal today.
