Torit County Health Department declared Saturday as sanitation day to keep Torit clean.

The county health department told residents in a circular that they should comply to improve poor sanitation in some areas, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Residents were directed to avoid littering.

They were told to clean up their surroundings up to five metres away from the fences to keep a neat environment.

People were told that latrines are compulsory in every plot.

They were warned against open squatting saying it attracts punishment.

The county authority also forbade children and adults from easing themselves in public areas.

Washing clothes, cars, bathing and as well as depositing waste at Kinati River was restricted to keep water points clean.
