Sara Ouma, representing PSI, Population Service International, said that currently 34 million people are infected by HIV worldwide and in 2011 there were 2.7 million new cases.

The figures are from UNAIDS.

Mr. Ouma told people living with the virus that they are important to the society.

She urged them to treat the disease as they treat malaria and get on with their lives.
