The Coordinator for South Sudan Aids Commission for Yei River County said Yei’s night discos and lodges are public places accountable for the increase of aids in county due to prostitution.

Chris Issa Gordon told Radio Easter that disco halls like Woko Bayi which means “No Running until morning” are places where over 200 youth enjoy themselves with alcohol and other products leading them to unprotected sex.

Mr. Issa added that the influx of returnees and foreigners to the county are other factors responsible for the spread of aids.

He appealed to the county authorities to issue some local orders to curb the spread of aids in the town otherwise the World Aids Day celebrations are meaningless.

Mr. Issa made these remarks yesterday during the commemoration of the World Aids Day in Yei’s Freedom Square.
