Salva Kiir Mayardit has promised to bring changes to Southern Sudan if he is elected as GoSS President in the elections that take place within 44 days.
Candidate Kiir told a huge crowd of supporters that gathered yesterday for the start of his electoral campaign at Dr. John Garang’s Memorial in Juba that if he is elected back things will be different from what has been happening these last five years.He added he would eradicate corruption and the “culture of impunity” among southern officials.
Mr. Kiir asked for equal education opportunities for girls and boys in order to free women and stop them being looked at as property.
The SPLM Chairman explained that South Sudan’s other political parties have directly or indirectly supported his nomination by not putting forward any nominee.
He added that those parties already they have voted for him.
Mr. Kiir explained that he has only one challenger he considers not being from south Sudan’s political parties.
The challenger Kiir did no name is Dr. Lam Akol, from the SPLM-DC, a splinter group widely believed to be originated by the NCP.
