The Catholic parish of Tonj, in Warrap State, has organized a three-day vocational camp for boys below 16 years of age who are interested to join the Salesian congregation.

Parish priest Shyjan Job told Radio Don Bosco that 64 boys were invited to attend the camp that started yesterday.

Fr. Shyjan added that the camp was for boys in primary five and above.

He said the participants receive Basic English and Maths classes in the morning and play games in the afternoon.

Fr. Shyjan added that the participants will learn about the Bible and God’s calls.

He added that this is the first time a vocational camp is conducted in Tonj although the Salesians have done them in Wau and Gumbo, near Juba, in South Sudan, and in El-Obeid and Khartoum, in the Sudan.

He added that the event it will be held every year in Tonj.

Fr. Shyjan said Salesians are working in Tonj for over 30 years and no local priest has yet been ordained so far.
