A government official from the Ministry of Education Science and Technology in Lakes State has called upon primary teachers setting the end-year examination to prepare the exams within the syllabus covered during the year for fair evaluation of the pupils’ performance.

County Director of Education in Rumbek Center, Peter Mangui Malok, told Good News Radio that the teachers should not set examination with the aim of failing the pupils.

He expressed the importance of the end year examination to the pupils adding that the current exams targeting children in primary 1-7, commenced on Monday and will take ten days, after which the schools are expected to close.

Mr. Malok, who is also an advocate for girl child education, appealed to the parents to give their daughters enough time to study in order to compete equally with the boys and to pass exams.

He called on mothers not to burden their daughters with household chores but to support them during this examination period.

All the Primary Schools in Lakes state are expected to close for holidays on December 20.
