Over 1,300 pupils sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education this year in Nuba Mountains despite of the war raging in the state since June.
The exams started on Tuesday and ended yesterday.Director General for Education in Nuba Mountains Kutti Ernesto Afjan said this year 1,316 candidates from six counties sat for the Kenyan examinations in three centres.
Mr. Ernesto added that the authorities are working hard to open all the secondary schools in the region by the end of January or beginning of February in order for the pupils who passed the exam to continue their studies.
The Director General for Education praised the pupils for their hard work and wished them confidence in good results.
Mr. Ernesto told the pupils that back home they should lead the communities towrads change and hope.
He remarked that despite of insecurity, the Nuba government managed to organize the exams through the collaboration with the Kenyan government and the help of Almighty God.
