The Director for Peace and Justice in the Catholic Diocese of Torit has urged leaders to administer authority with justice.
Fr. Martine Madara made these remarks while preaching on Sunday at Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Torit, Radio Emmanuel reported.Fr. Madara observed that God entrusted his authority to men and it must be administered with Justice.
The priest told the congregation that a true leader is one who identifies the problems of the community and gives appropriate solutions.
Fr. Madara cautioned the congregation on misuse of authority and power.
He said in most cases the authority that God entrusts to man is misused for oppression and selfish gains.
Fr. Madara stressed to the Christian community that Lent is a period of life stock taking and observation of respect for Human dignity because God made everyone in his likeness.
The Director for peace and Justice also emphasized that pointing at individual weaknesses does not help; rather Christians should focus on strengths of people for empowerment, however little it may be.
