ASSEMBLY PASSES EASTERN EQUATORIA TRANSITIONAL CONSTITUTION

Eastern Equatoria Legislative Assembly yesterday passed the Transitional Constitution of the state.

MPs collectively agreed to approve the fundamental law after its third reading in an extraordinary sitting president over by speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi.

Mr. Ocholimoi told Emmanuel Radio that the state Transitional Constitution is in conformity to the national law.

He added that legislators introduced an article about the composition of the Legislative Assembly.

Mr. Ocholimoi said Eastern Equatoria Transitional Constitution awarded parliamentary representation to persons with special needs, women and other political parties.

Clement Chichim Laku, who chaired the committee tasked with drafting the Transitional Constitution, expresses gratitude to the House for passing the document.

The speaker will certify the Bill and send to the national ministry of justice and constitutional affairs in Juba before the state governor signs it into law.
