Eastern Equatoria caretaker governor has promised yesterday that he will make sure elections will be conducted in peace in his state.

Brigadier General Johnson Juma Okot made this statement yesterday at St. Charles Lwanga Chapel, in Juba, where he attended mass to ask for God’s blessing at the beginning of his new term of office.

Gen. Juma was appointed caretaker governor during the period of elections campaign.

He told the congregation that security and free and fair elections were his priorities for the coming months.

Gen. Juma added he will not promise development but will make sure that the elections will be peaceful and without harassment for voters or parties.

Gen. Juma was the Director for SPLA Affairs in the President’s Office.
