Lenten season is all about self sacrifice and the sacrifice of oneself involves the control of one’s will power, explaining that controlling one’s will power has to do with practicing gospel values.

The Parish Priest of St. Theresa’s Parish in Rumbek, Fr. Salvadore Ferrao, made this statement yesterday to Radio Good News.

Fr. Salvatore said during Lent, the Church asks Christians to be committed in prayer, helping the needy and fasting.

He remarked that fasting in the African context goes beyond food, because there is hunger in many places.

Making a reference to the African Synod of Bishops, the Jesuit priest cautioned Christians against drinking and indulging in sexual pleasure.
