Two top officials from the United Democratic Salvation Front (UDSF) and Sudan People Liberation Movement for Democratic Change (SPLM-DC) have joined the SPLM.

The move was made public today during a press conference at Juba’s SPLM Southern Sector headquarters.

Ater Ayiel Wolgol was UDSF Southern Sector deputy secretary-General and MP for Yirol East County in the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly.

He told the press that he left the UDSF for the SPLM due to many tensions, divisions and conflicts among UDSF members.

Mr. Ayel withdrew his candidacy for Yirol East County seat in Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly.

Elizabeth Acuil Yol Kuol was a member of the SPLM-DC from Twic County in Warrap State.

Ms. Acuil told the press that she left the SPLM to join the SPLM-DC due to the party’s objectives.

However, she added that the move was a miscalculation as SPLM-DC’s objectives are not genuine and fair for the people of Southern Sudan.

SPLM deputy secretary general for the southern sector, Dr. Anne Itto, welcomed the two defecting officials.
