National Election Commission (NEC) has warned political candidates against misuse of government property for personal gain during the elections campaign.

Eastern Equatoria State High Election Committee chairperson, Joseph Ojukwu, reiterated the NEC warning that misuse of government facilities for personal campaigning is an offence punished by law.

Mr. Ojukwu said people in government positions should desist from using government vehicles and other property in order to have an upper hand over their opponents.

He added that at best civil servants and people in authority should resign from active service to pursue their political ambitions at a neutral level like the rest of the candidates.

Mr. Ojukwu advised candidates not to misuse churches and mosques during the campaign saying the places of worship are only to honor Almighty God.

He said politicians distract worshipers from focusing on matters of faith while bringing politics into churches and mosques.
