UPPER NILE CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW COMMITTEE HANDS DRAFT IN

The chairperson of the State Constitutional Review Committee in Upper Nile State has handed in the completed draft document to governor Simon Kun Puoch on Tuesday afternoon.

Legal Affairs and Constitution Development Minister Riek Pal Rik, who leads the committee, said the draft Constitution has 15 chapters and 166 articles, Voice of Love reported.

Mr. Pal added that the draft Constitution has included a law for the Council of Traditional Chiefs. By this, he said, Upper Nile will be the first state in South Sudan to recognize the Council of Chiefs through the Constitution.

The draft Constitution, which was completed in 18 days, will be read by state governor, then debated and confirmed by the state council of ministers and passed by the state parliament.
