G7+ COUNTRIES NEED NEW DEAL WITH DONORS

The G7+ countries want a new deal with aid partners that allow governments of the fragile states to manage the money and strengthen their institutions.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit urged the international donors to listen to fragile states concerning the management of aid that they provide.

He said experiences from others states showed that the aid has been managed outside government system which underminds its ownership and leadership on assistances for development.

President Kiir said the G7+ is a very crucial body to influence the term in which the fragile states get money from developed countries.

He added that the fragile and post-conflict affected states need to manage the international community support to strengthen governments’ institution to achieve the Millennium Development Goals

The President was speaking at the end of a two-day G7+ ministerial retreat here in Juba in preparation for the fourthcoming High Level Forum on aid effectiveness next month in Busan, South Korea.
