Unemployed youth in Rumbek are complaining about discrimination in job distribution by different organizations and by the state government.

A group of youth who were gathering in Rumbek town at a spot with a job advert told Radio Good News that they saw no need of applying for the job advertised.

They added competence is not considered, just family ties.

The youth called on the UN and the government departments to review their system of employment and base it on merit.

The youth described the current system of job offers as “uncle jobs” implying nepotism.

Unemployment is a major issue of concern among the youth in Rumbek, the capital of Lakes State.
