The results from the Fifth Population and Housing Census are incomplete and its findings inconsistent and a potential cause of future disputes and unrest, an international NGO said.

Darfur Relief and Documentation Centre (DRDC), a Swiss-based organization, published this week a report titled “5th Population and Housing Census in Sudan √ɬê An Incomplete Exercise” saying the operation fell short of meeting universal standards.

The document explains that the fact that there are almost more two million male than female in Sudan challenges universal demographic trends.

It also raises questions about the validity of the reported increase in population in the last 15 years.

The DRDC report concludes that the census data break-up repeals evidence of gross misconduct, technical gaps and widespread inconsistency.

It adds that these findings question the accuracy of the operation and undermine the use of the census outcomes as the basis for the process of political transformation in the Sudan.
