Over 14,000 people are stuck in Kosti, Sudan, waiting for a means of transportation to South Sudan.

IOM, the International Organization for Migrations, had registered 14,348 people in Kosti way station until September 7.

UNICEF says the Kosti way station is congested, with returnees settling outside and beyond the way station perimeter.

Whole families are camping in the open in a makeshift settlement that continues to grow.

The UN says insecurity in border areas and the limited number of transport barges are keeping returnees in Kosti in a difficult situation.
