The new minister for Commerce and Industry pledged to develop the private sector in South Sudan, a major source of employment.
Garang Diing Akuang made this statement while addressing participants at a welcome event to him and his deputy minister in their new ministry.He said it is the SPLM vision is to encourage investors in South Sudan.
Mr. Diing called upon the youths to stop relying on government for jobs and take up the opportunities offered by the private sector.
He noted that the country is going through an economic crisis because the South Sudan pound continues to weaken against the dollar.
Mr. Diing added that a weaker pound makes food and other commodities more expensive.
He pledged to increase efforts to stabilise the economy by encouraging private investment in South Sudan.
