A Church group is organizing a week-long eye surgery camp in Tonj Civil Hospital to combat blindness.
Sebit Kush Chiman is the director of In Deed and Truth Ministry, the Church group organizing the eyes surgery. He told Don Bosco FM that the cataracts are natural lenses in the human eye that with time get cloudy and do not allow old people to see well.He added that surgeons are replacing the eye’s lenses by artificial ones through a simple operation.
Mr. Kush advised people to eat more vegetables, especially carrots and onions, to protect their eyes.
Mr. Kush advised people to wear their glasses well to avoid further problems.
He called on the government to assist in the provision of medicines.
The eye surgery camp started on Saturday and ends on Friday.
