Parish priests should take an active role in identifying and monitoring development projects at their respective parishes.
The appeal comes from the Vicar general of the Catholic Diocese of Torit Celestino Muras while closing a three-day annual plan development workshop yesterday in Torit, Emmanuel Radio reported.
Fr. Muras called for transparency in all development projects taking place in the diocese.
He urged project coordinators to involve parish priests in their programmes.
The vicar general asked social workers to put in practice the resolutions reached during annual plan development workshop.
The resolutions include the formation of development committees and equal distribution of resources to the parishes, more frequent communications and strengthening relationships among projects coordinators, employees and parish priests.
Fr. Muras discouraged absenteeism of employees from their duties without proper reasons, saying staff should develop love towards their job.
Katia Lebe, the workshop facilitator, appreciated the work done by the 20 participants and their cooperation.
She added that the workshop will enable the participants to plan and improve service delivery in their places.
