Hundreds of Tonj East County residents were displaced after Akok and Luackoth communities clashed over scarce resources in the region.
Tonj South County Chief Inspector of Police, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Mayiei confirmed that the clashes between the two warring communities left 22 people dead and 18 others wounded, Don Bosco FM reported.He added that the displaced victims spent four days in the bush with no access to food or water.
Mr. Mayiei commended the efforts of Tonj South County Commissioner Akec Tong Alieu in calming down the tension in the neighbouring Tonj East County.
He noted that the area is currently calm although the displaced still fear to return to their homes.
