The Central Bank of South Sudan in collaboration with the Currency Conversion Committee for Central Equatoria yesterday officially started currency conversion operations in Yei’s Ivory and Central Bank branchs.
Yei River County Commissioner Elia Wai Wai said he thank God for the new currency, Easter Radio reported.State Currency Committee member Lee Lemi Elias said the initiative was complimenting the efforts of the Central Equatoria committee for currency conversion.
Ivory Bank-Yei Manager Anthony Tutu Salah said that he was very happy to see that South Sudan had its own currency to help in the development of the new Nation.
The conversion of the Sudanese pounds in the five payams of Yei River County starts on Wednesday and ends next Sunday.
