Officials from the US Embassy in Juba said the American administration intends to strengthen its relations with Southern Sudan.
US embassy staff visited local authorities and institutions in Wau to assess possible partnerships for developing the new born country, Voice of Hope reported.Phaedra Gwyn, who is the Diplomatic Affairs Officer at the US Embassy in Juba, told the media that her government is planning to increase its presence in the whole country and keep supporting its development process.
Ms. Gwyn said some support will come to South Sudan through USAID.
She said the agency is already building the first asphalted highway in South Sudan between Juba and Nimule highway at a cost of 300 million US dollars.
Ms. Gwyn promised other partnership in different sectors including the universities.
The American diplomat acknowledged the role of the media in the process of developing the country, whishing that press and institutions can cooperate for a mutual benefit.
