BOSS SAYS IT COLLECTED ABOUT ONE BILLION SUDANESE POUNDS

The Central Bank of South Sudan said it has so far collected three quarters of the retiring Sudanese pound since the new South Sudanese Pound was launched on July 18.

Korenilius Koryom, deputy governor of the Central Bank, told the press that more Sudanese Pound are expected to be collected in the remaining period regardless of the weather and logistical challenges.

He said the estimated 1.5 billion Sudanese pounds might not all be collected due to trade movements within South Sudan and Sudan.

Mr. Koryom called upon citizens who have not exchanged their Sudanese pounds for the new currency do to so and save South Sudan’s wealth.
