The dismissed Deputy Director of Radio Rumbek 98 FM has sued Lakes State Minister of Information for issues related to his sacking and ordering his arrest last week.
Peter Maliap Cieny was sacked last Tuesday, four days after being detained by police in Rumbek at the minister’s orders.Mr. Maliap told Good News Radio that he was sacked by the minister of information Marik Nanga Marik over what he called administrative differences between him and Manyang Mayom, the director of the station.
He added that he was accused of attempting to fight with his boss at the station.
Mr. Maliap rejected the claim of physical assault, clarifying that he initiated a discussion with the Mr. Mayom over the management of the station.
Mr. Maliap said he has already opened a case against the minister.
He added that Mr. Nanga will have to explain before the court of law why he ordered his arrest last week and to give evidence of the claim that he attempted to fight his former boss.
Mr. Nanga confirmed that he dismissed Mr. Maliap over what he called gross indiscipline, explaining that he has had the habit of attacking his seniors at workplaces.
The minister cited an incident that took place Thursday last week saying Mr. Maliap stormed the director’s office and attacked the director who was going about his daily duties.
Mr. Nanga said he was ready to testify before the court of law about the dismissed officer and that his actions constitute a crime.
The Rumbek-based state radio station has been in operation since 2007.
