The UN says the returnees’ situation in Renk, Upper Nile, is very challenging and everyday there are new arrivals.

Hilde Johnson, who heads the UN Mission in South Sudan, said in a media briefing after her visit to Renk that returnees are facing many difficulties to get to their various final destinations.

She explained that there is a huge logistical and infrastructure challenge that made the process of transporting returnees very difficult.

Ms. Johnson said most returnees come with excess of belongings that nearly costs each about 250 dollars to transport.

She explained that humanitarian organizations are working out a plan to make sure that at least some returnees reach their final destination and have a decent accommodation.

The rest has to wait in Renk until the dry season starts.
