South Sudan Civil society representatives agreed to establish an alliance which will play the role of coordination, information sharing and building consensus on issues of concern to the citizens.

The South Sudan Civil Society Alliance was announced in a statement signed by more than 100 members of the civil society at the end of their first convention that lasted for four days.

The participants in the civil society convention called upon people of South Sudan to embrace unity in diversity and reject ethnicity, nepotism and corruption.

They urged the new government to enhance and promote social justice and declare zero tolerance for sexual and gender based violence.

The first civil society convention started on Tuesday and concluded yesterday in Juba.
