PRIMARY LEAVING EXAMINATIONS KICK OFF IN CENTRAL EQUATORIA

Primary schools leaving certificate examinations kicked off today in Central Equatoria with thousands of pupils seating for the final test across the state.

State minister for Education Stephen Lemi Lokuron rang the bell that marked the beginning of the exams at Malakia Basic School, in Juba.

Mr. Lemi said he hopes that the states examinations will show better results.

Mr. Lemi added that at least 6,790 pupils are sitting for primary leaving certificate in the state this year.

He explained that some pupils are sitting for the local exams while others are following the East Africa curriculum.

The pupils sitting for the local curriculum are 1,769 boys and 1,402 girls, while those sitting for East Africa Curriculum are 2,249 boys and 1,270 girls.

The East African Curriculum is followed mainly in areas that were administered by the SPLM during the war of liberation.
