Nile Commercial Bank Torit Branch Manager has cautioned the public against alleged fake 50 Sudanese Pounds banknotes in circulation.

Michael Sokiri urged the public to be vigilant, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He said the suspicion on false money followed security reports that some individuals were found with fake notes.

He said the bank is checking well all 50 pounds notes before changing them for the new South Sudanese pounds.

Mr. Sokiri says people found with fake notes should be considered innocent because many people do not know how to identify bad banknotes.

He urges people not to fear 50-pound notes but to take their money to the bank for verification.

Mr. Sokiri said the process of exchanging the old currency for the new South Sudan Pound will soon be taken to all the counties, payams and bomas of Eastern Equatoria.

He appealed to citizens to hurry up and change their old Sudanese Pounds until the end of August.
